Enhanced access to income-generating opportunities... and shared natural resourcesfor borderlands community members.
Emphasis on: Socio-economic development, borderland economies, livelihoodimprovement as a peace dividend
How economic recovery is framed:
Recovery is framed atcommunity and borderland level
Focus on restoring and strengtheninglocal economies
Linked directly to peace and stability
The economic recovery pillar focuses on shared natural resource management, recognizing that water, pasture, and grazing lands do not respect political boundaries. Through improved governance of these resources, promotion of livestock marketing and cross-border trade, and building climate-resilient livelihoods, the programme addresses the environmental and economic challenges that borderland communities face. PRBP ensures that development initiatives are integrated into government planning systems for long-term sustainability, building on the rich cultural heritage and social networks that make these borderlands unique and economically vibrant parts of the Horn of Africa.
Sustainable Development Goals:
1. Building on rich cultural heritage, social networks, and untapped socio-economic potential of borderland communities
2. Integrating programme outputs into government planning systems for long-term impact
2. Ensuring financial, institutional, and policy sustainability beyond programme duration
